Under a new Conservative government, Canadians will be able to count on stable and predictable health and social program funding. Canadians must have confidence that these programs will be there for them when they need them. That's what this guarantee is about. Stable federal funding is vital to ensure a quality public health care system in every province. Andrew Scheer and the Conservatives are going to continue to highlight our positive plan to help Canadians get ahead while reminding voters that Justin Trudeau is not as advertised. But we know that health is not limited to physical ailments, which is why our previous Conservative government made significant investments to help address this issue and to encourage a dialogue with all those affected to find solutions.
In addition to this, our previous Conservative government:
- created the Mental Health Commission of Canada and provided funding of $240M; and
- allocated $5.2M to support research on treating depression with a focus on suicide prevention.
Lastly, we know that people are forced to wait over one month to receive an MRI or Cat Scan, which is why we are going to invest $1.5 billion to help provinces purchase more machines and help reduce wait times for patients.
