As a proud francophone myself, I know the value that the French language and culture bring to Canada. When elected, I will ensure that those values are represented in Parliament. Conservatives have long played a role in the development of the Francophonie. Brian Mulroney made it possible for Francophone countries to meet every two years through the creation of the international organization: La Francophonie. The Conservative Mulroney government also strengthened Canada’s relations with France. Our government has recognized that the Québécois form a nation within Canada. Under Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Canada enabled Quebec to participate fully in the work of UNESCO. A Conservative government will affirm our country’s commitment to the Francophonie. As Prime Minister, Andrew Scheer will work to improve the lack of economic coordination amongst the member countries in the Francophonie.
