David Bertschi

Meet The Candidate

Born in Ste-Adèle and raised in Verdun, Québec, David Bertschi learned from an early age the importance of hard work, perseverance and honesty.

David graduated from Carleton University (BA) in 1980, and from the University of Windsor (LLB) in 1983.

David and his wife Debbie reside in Orléans where they raised their six children who are now adults.  They have been living in Orléans for over 30 years.

David has continually been actively involved in his community through a number of organizations, including Citizen Advocacy and the Independent Living Resource Centre. He has also supported a number of sports and cultural groups in the community such as Cumberland Panthers, Orléans Young Players Theatre Group, Music Alive and Cumberland soccer, hockey and baseball associations.

David is a member of the Orléans Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Orléans, the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 632, the RAFO (Rendez-vous des aînés d’Ottawa), the MIFO (Mouvement d’Implications francophones d’Orléans).

David has spent most of his working life in the private sector.  He has also served as a Crown prosecutor.

David is a founding partner at Bertschi Orth Solicitors and Barristers LLP, a law firm located on the outskirts of Orléans.  He has practiced law since 1985, authored numerous articles and spoken at various conferences throughout Canada and the United States.

Throughout his career, David has taught courses in business and insurance law at Carleton University, for the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, the County of Carleton Law Association, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and many other organizations.
